SCREAMING AT THE SCREENS

Talk'OH! Tuesday Premiere

Written by Glenn Javier

Let's face it. Live sporting events aren't making a comeback anytime soon. With COVID-19 still wreaking havoc, stadiums, and stands, once lit up and occupied by thousands of passionate fans, have become dim, empty, and quiet.

However, the pandemic has not stopped the sporting industry from giving quality content to its fan base, especially the die-hard supporters. Fans are hungry for content more than ever as they're all staying indoors... just anticipating the next spark of entertainment from their TV or mobile screens.

This is why Sporting event viewership matched with digital advertising has become society's focus. Though streaming apps have been garnering their fair share of the market, the classic TV will always be apart of the North American way of life.

According to Nielsen's Primetime Broadcast Programs, NBC or The National Broadcasting Company's Sunday Night Football topped the list for the week of December 14, 2020, yet again. The estimates on this page include Live viewing and DVR playback of the same day (3 am - 3 am). These ratings are based on the percentage of American homes dialed into their TV screens.

What's more interesting is that the next few shows on the list are also in line with sports - or football, to be specific. These include FOX's Thursday Night Football, another NBC entry with Sunday Night NFL Pre-Kick, FOX's NFL Sunday, CBS' SEC Championship (Dr. Pepper Challenge), and FOX's Thursday Night Pre-Kick.

Football also dominates Cable Network TV, with networks like ESPN and the NFL Network broadcasting their daily cable programs to everyone's screens.

All I can say is that sports has been and will continue to be TV's saving grace, especially during this time.
