Ryan Getzlaf will officially hang up his skates after an illustrious 17-year career in the NHL which will likely see him inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame at some point.

The 36-year-old has been one of the top playmaking centers in hockey throughout his NHL career, racking up 1,013 points in 1,150 games since his debut in the league in 2005.

He is the 45th player in league history to score over 1,000 points for one team and the 39th to do it with his first club and the only one of his career.

A one-time Stanley Cup champion, Getzlaf is currently the all-time leader in Ducks history regarding career games played and assists (731), serving as team captain over the past 12 seasons.

The native of Regina, Saskatchewan, was a member of Anaheim's only Stanley Cup victory in the 2006-07 campaign and is also a two-time Olympic gold medallist for Team Canada, a three-time NHL all-star and a runner-up for the Hart Trophy as league MVP in 2014.

Getzlaf is the first one-team player in Ducks history to feature in at least 10 seasons for the club and will join Henrik and Daniel Sedin as the only players to have a one-team career of at least 17 seasons, entirely in the 21st century.

With 11 games remaining, we are unlikely to see Anaheim make the playoffs, as they are 14 points back of a postseason berth.
